Menchies

Since we moved to Qatar almost 3 weeks ago, Menchies is becoming a regular treat for us since we discovered it a few days after arriving. We’ve been big frozen yoghurt fans since living in Kuwait usually visiting Pinkberry or Froyo but I have to say Menchies is by far my favourite!

Menchies is the biggest froyo store in the GCC and has the option of 14 changing yoghurt flavours and over 50 topping choices. Yoghurts flavours include the likes of Nutella, biscoff, peanut butter, original and flavoured sorbet. You can choose one flavour or a mix – whatever you fancy! The delicious toppings go from the healthy granola, berries, and a variety of fruits to the naughtier but delicious cookie dough, M&M’s, chocolate chips, rainbow sprinkles and lots more! There’s also a variety of different sauces to add to your yoghurt to make it even tastier.

What I love about Menchies is being able to make your own frozen yoghurt. You can choose how much yoghurt you want and what toppings and how much of them. You can add just a couple of malteaster chocolates instead of using a whole ‘topping’ choice like you would at other frozen yoghurt places. Plus the kids love making their own yoghurt and choosing and adding their favourite toppings themselves.

We have visited a few times now and our most recent visit cost 56 riyals – for one adults size frozen yoghurt with a variety of toppings and two children’s size yoghurts with toppings. As the yoghurts are priced by weight you can control how much you want to pay by choosing how much yoghurt you put in your cup and how much toppings you add. You can pay as little or as much as you like depending on how big you want your yoghurt! Perfect!

Cost: Depends on how little or how much yoghurt and toppings you want!

Fun and More

We have been exploring Porto Arabia at the Pearl bit by bit each evening when it gets slightly cooler. We tend to get dinner somewhere then have a little walk to explore what’s nearby. Obviously being the evening, the kids are often getting tired and start complaining after we have walked a little so we end up giving up. Well, as the Eid holiday was called a day earlier than we expected and my husband was wanting to do some work I decided to go out exploring with the kids.

We walked over to Medina Central and had look around the surrounding streets and then to our favourite frozen yoghurt place; Menchies to beat the mid-day heat. We decided to head over to the marina side of Porto Arabia and managed to find a great little soft play place at 18 La Croisette called Fun and More. Oscar and Millie were crazy about soft play places in the U.K. over the summer and they are at that lovely age were they can almost be left to play together and not need following around the play area too much. Yay! Mum can sit down and almost relax!

Fun and More was completely empty when we got there so Oscar and Millie had the place to themselves. There was a ball pool, slides and lots of different climbing apparatus. The staff were extremely friendly and the play area was spotless. It’s not huge inside compared to other larger play areas but for something local it’s perfect for Oscar and Millie.

Inside Fun and More there is also a girls spa and kids hair salon. They look lovely inside and are decorated with kids in mind. The hair salon will be perfect for us being so close by for when Oscar and Millie need their hair cutting and the girls salon I can see being a great place to visit with Millie for a treat or special occasions. I quite fancy the mum and daughter package too so I can have some pampering also!

Fun and More also offer birthday party packages including lots of different options and extras – kids food, adult food, play area access, party games, spa packages etc. All the details and prices can be collected from Fun and More.

I would highly recommend Fun and More, especially for those with young children that live on the Pearl. It’s not a huge play area but great if you’ve got kids who are bored at home and you don’t want to travel far. We will definitely be making regular trips there until the weather cools down and we can get outside a bit more.
